medusa
Medusa was an immersive interactive art installation, where participants’ brainwaves drove the projections & audio in the space.
A prequel to PALLAS, Medusa emphasizes the underlying female energy historically done away with when Pallas was born from the head of Zeus in full clad armor.
The piece investigates and questions the concept of the Mother,
both in terms of the Earth and the Divine Feminine.
It was inspired by Kodicrone’s contemplations on the role of the brain constructing ideas of belonging, nurturing, Death and healing.
Medusa was offered in Portland, OR on February 25, 2023.
The piece consists of material pertaining to Curacao, Dutch West Indies.
The video art features Kodicrone as well as movement artist Naomie Pieter,
recorded in salt pans built by enslaved Africans on the Curacaoan Jan Kok plantation,
behind Kodicrone’s dwelling on the Island.
